Having been to the museum a number of times over the last few years, it is always a joy reliving the times I served there, 81 to 84.
Every time there is always something new to see, the volunteers that create and maintain this small, but ever growing, self funding museum are a credit to the memory of all those who served here over the years RAF Laarbruch was open.
A great museum that should be visited, whether you are an ex service person or civilian, it paints a picture of what it was like to serve on a front line military base during the cold war period. Excellent.

A must see if you were based at RAF Laarbruch at any time, as I was in the mid 1980's.
An excellent museum run by a very friendly volunteer team, they are doing a marvellous job putting together the history of the base, from build to the end of the cold war.
It's full of nostaligia with new items being added on a regular basis and will certainly be worth another visit in a year or so's time, if you have anything relevant to donate please do it, its history.

Hi, a group of Ex Servicemen are making a two day trip to visit some of the old RAF bases in Germany. Most of them spent the majority of their postings at RAF Laarbruch so this of particular interest.
Can you estimate how long it would take to view all the exhibits in the museum, is there any access to the old base or is it only accessible via Weeze Airport which I imagine will be quite restrictive.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Glenne,
I visited the museum two months ago, and had quite a nostalgic time. It’s full of memorabilia representing all aspects of life at BFPO 43, not just aircraft bits. Two hours would do it justice but you could spend a whole day there!
As for the base, the southern part is accessible but you’d need to pay an entrance fee at the main gate. I was met my Rod Hawkins and given a short guided tour, but that was by personal arrangement. You can find his details on the museum website.
The North part of the airfield is now closed off, but you can still see parts of ‘Black’ and ‘Pink’, albeit totally overgrown, if you bring binoculars.
I hope you have an enjoyable visit.
