Hi ..yes its an easy path to walk along from the First cable car station and will probably take about an hour, maybe a bit longer...the cable cars start from Grindlewald at I think 0800 and the last one back down from first is about 1730 otherwise its a 3 hour walk ! Hope this helps :)

Bonjour, je partage en grande partie l'avis de Pascalimn... mais si mes souvenirs sont bons et si vous avez un fauteuil roulant avec de grosses roues et des personnes musclées pour pousser, il est vrai que longeant le sentier pédestre il y a une route de terre et gravillons pour les vélos, que les piétons empruntent par moment et qui me semble praticable pour un fauteuils roulant tout terrain. Par contre environ 1h pour aller et autant pour le retour, c'est incontournable, mais j'ai vu des personnes asiatiques bien âgées faire ce parcours. Je viens de publier deux photos du chemin pour le lac de Bachalpsee qui vous montrent l'état de la route.

It's generally forbidden throughout Switzerland along shores of lakes as well as rivers.In some cantons,for example Graubünden and Ticino it is generally forbidden to camp e.g put up a tent or station a caravan outside of a specially designated area,elsewhere you need to ask the permission of either the owner of the land or the local police If I were you I wouldn't take my chances. Fines can be hefty for even minor infractions in Switzerland. And I'm not sure you would get much sleep with the cow bells going off all night all around your tent if you took the chance that the police won't find you. You are better off finding a designated camping area and sticking to it.

No i think you can't the road to the lake closed now beacuse of snow still covered the area and its dangerous to go as there is avalanche and melted snow make everything thing not easy ...they will open the road to lake i thing in the middle of June ...

Technically it can be hiked all year round if you have the right gear. Expect snow, and probably a fair amount still, it is pretty high in elevation. Take the First gondola to the top, then follow the signs. It is well marked. Enjoy.

I was there a month ago and the lake was frozen and covered with snow, however the walk there was still beautiful with blue skies. If you have limited time, you may wish to consider a daytrip to Murren instead. I did this trip again on a beautiful day. The journey to Murren is an experience in itself with a combination of train, cable car and cog railway. The village is small and pretty and there is a lovely walking trail above the village Great Mountain View’s. An easy day trip from Interlaken. Have a great time and may the weather be on your side 🙂

Hi, I am unaware if it will be frozen in April. However, the hike is beautiful and a "must see". It takes about 2 hours one way, but we are not fit and slow. it should not take more than 1 hour and 30 min one way. The hike is quite, between mountains. In September, we encountered cows grazing along the way, green grass, deep blue skies; it was picture perfect. The lake has two sides and both are something to be remembered. People continue hiking beyond the lake and i won't know where. We returned back from the lake. If you are going to Jungfraugh, then Schilthorn can be skipped. Both are almost the same, except Jungfrauch is more majestic! Schilthorn is good for seeing the "James Bond" hotel/ restuarant and is nostalgic. Besides that Jungfrauch is superior! Lake Bachalpsee is part of Grindelwad "First"; you can do the cliff walk, zip line, flying dragon, go carting activities and others over there. You may want to add an additional day to your stay if you want to do these activities also.

Hey ! From Grindelwald you take the lift up to First (where the Tissot bridge is) and then you have to hike a bit. it's an easy hike (flat) for maybe 30 min. it is really well indicated so you can't get lost =) you can afterwards do the loop back and take the lift down or you hike down (what we did). it's easy to go down and beautiful. have fun! sure is worth it
