Just visited this small museum on sunday . It displayed the history and traumatic, unjust treatment of the Palestinian people and the forced eviction from their land and homes over many many years
The display of artwork, costumes and stories of normal people who are so inhumanely treated by Israel is heartbreaking.
I would recommend anyone with a heart to visit here and the staff are so courteous and willing to answer any questions
I wish i could have done the tour but our timing wasnt right.

The museum is small but mighty. It exhibits the true stories of Palestinians being expelled during the Nakba, the true horrors of living under Israeli apartheid and occupation, as well as showcases the true impact of colonialism. There is nothing "political " about this museum as other viewers have stated. It truly embodies the heart of Palestinians. It showcases/honors the journey and hardships that most Palestinians have felt over the past 75 years which is commonly missed or ignored in Western media. The story may be new to you, but I hope you question why you have never heard of it vs discounting it as political vs humanitarian. I hope that each person that visit opens their eyes and heart to the personal stories of what Palestinians have truly been through.

The little museum with heart, that wishes to highlight the artistic, eternal and the resilient Palestinian people and they do a great job. This is a very small and new museum. We were hardly welcomed by the staff and even a board member. They’re enthusiastic about growing the museum and want to share their experiences as Americans of Palestinian heritage. Our docent Mohammed did a fantastic job, many if our party had direct experience and want to share their deeply held feelings. Mohammed allowed for their voices to be heard. He masterfully shared the history of the Palestinian people. Discussion of the British Mandate can be thorny for anyone, he did this without blame, but let the history tell the story. It was powerful. I know they have ambitions to continue growing the museum. Since much of the museum is the spoken history, it may not be best for younger children

I passed this venue many times on my walks through DC neighborhoods and finally decided to stop in a couple of weekends ago.

It is interesting and I learned a bit about Palestinian history.

I did the tour (I think tours start on the hour). I thought that the tour guide was quite knowledgeable and left politics out of the tour. That said he encouraged questions, even questions that were sensitive.

Why a 4*? The venue's exhibits were well done, but it is a bit small and became quite crowded.

It was too political and one sided, alot of the information is false and thats a shame,
I hope the museum will update their facts

The one-room 3-aisle museum is easily seen in 20-30 minutes. To garner a more personal perspective, the 30-40 minute tour is worth booking. The guides are enthusiastic pointing out details that are easily overlooked when relying solely on the written descriptions alongside the artifact. For some reason I was anticipating more of a historical bent to the museum (probably a reflection of a perspective gleaned from the news), but it is a museum about the people with modern art, today’s clothing, and current photos. I left wanting to know much more, so the museum served its purpose in generating interest. I would return when they have grown.

I stopped by here (and the neighboring Palestinian bookstore) for some background before my trip to Israel/Palestine last October. This is a very new museum (I think just a year or so at this site) and is growing. The museum is a celebration of a history, culture, contemporary and traditional art of a people I did not know much about. I think it is important because it provides a picture of a vibrant people most of us only see through the lens of conflict. Worth a visit. I will be interested in following this museum as it grows.

I stumbled on this little museum on my way to the Chocolate House. It was definitely worth stopping in. The museum offers the perspective of the Palestinian people and has beautiful artwork. No matter what your opinion about the situation in Palestine and Israel, this museum should be on your list of places to visit while in DC.

Since the earlier review someone wrote in 2018, this museum has moved to 18th St. at T, NW. It's still pretty small but there's a lot more than indicated in the previous review. Yes, there are historical photos but there are also some videos, artifacts, artwork and a general sense of Palestinian culture. It will be interesting to see how it develops. When we were there there was a steady stream of people and the staff told us it was actually busier earlier in the day. An excellent start.

As befits the Palestinians' aspiration to a state of their own, this museum is also more aspiration than reality at this point. They have a permanent site identified, and they're trying to get the funding for a permanent collection and staff. But at the moment, they have a tiny collection of historical photos on display on the upper level of the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H St. NE). It's a fairly bedraggled and accidental collection of some 30 family and historical photos, some from the present day, some going back to the early 20th Century...mostly single and group portraits. When compared to the African-American and Holocaust Museums, it's embarrassing, really. One can only hope that, if and when sufficient funding arrives, the project will become more substantial and permanent and develop a more compelling storyline and rationale. The people are a worthy cause, and they deserve better.
