The parking area is small for the number of tourists that come here. It is a very popular place with loads of rubbish everywhere.

Go visit ! Cannot reccomend enough, so beautiful and such a special place hidden away from the main beaches and crowds. A manned RNLI hut is nearby and the surrounding area has fantastic costal walks along the cliffs and sand dunes. Great for watersports enthusiasts and those wanting time by the water and white sandy beach.

Porthkidney Sands are a hidden gem. When staying with friends I always walk the dogs there and we all love it. Have to be mindful of the tides otherwise you can get stuck on the beach at high tide with the only way out via climbing the towans (sand dunes/cliffs)

We visited her daily as we were staying close by and it is a dog friendly beach all day and all year round.
It's a well used beach by both local people and tourists alike. It is tidal and there is a life guard on duty from March to September due to the tidal current. Be careful in the water once you come out from the harbour area due to strong currents, while we were there the life guard was about to go out to help a dog who was being dragged along by the current but luckily it managed to climb out after some time.
Lovely views and a lovely beach.

Stunning quiet beach. Worth visiting and gets you away from the crowds. We walked to it along the coastal path.

A walk along the coast path from St Ives to Carbis Bay then on up the headland will take you to this gorgeous beach. You access it via a steep rocky path. The beach is vast and you can walk acrooss to the Hayle Estuary and then up to the St Uny Golf Links, through Lelant to The Badger Inn for lunch and a bus back to St Ives. Perfect day out.

Alliance Parking are utter scum. Charged me £100 for driving in the car park, and leaving 11 minutes later. Charged my friends the same amount despite them buying a ticket and having proof. Don't go to this beach until they no longer operate the car park. You will get rinsed and there are better places to go

Parking was busy at Lelant, with people ignoring the polite please leave, reserved for church goers places!!!
That said I got parked and walked the few minutes to the start of the beach and what an expanse of clean lovely sand leading to crisp, cool clear water. Be mindful going out to far the currents are very strong.
You can walk for miles here and the Dunes with good commanding views to Godevry and St Ives.

We visited this dog-friendly beach twice. One was a frustrating visit and the other much nicer.
The first visit we joined from the Carbis Bay end. Parked in the Scout Hut car park. and followed the coastal path as directed by a local. An enclosed coastal path with the occasional view through the trees. Not what we imagined. Eventually after crossing over a railway and down a steep narrow path, we find the beach. To get back to Carbis Bay once on the beach, we walked back on ourselves and again asked a local if the cliff footpath was open. It was, but the first 30 feet is rocky and tricky (stairs worn away by tide) and not for the faint-hearted. Hardly any signs so you had to guess the way!
The 2nd visit we parked by the church at Lelant for free. Walked an easy path 10 mins down to the beach. Lots of rock pools and beautiful stretch of water with sand both sides. The picture I've uploaded has no filters. The dog loved it!

It was a nice beach to visit, the only issue is was that the sand wasn’t the best because it was all filled up with muk and dirt

I'm sorry I don't know. We stayed on a campsite outside of st Ives (about 10minutes).
I've only been there once and I'm going again in May but staying in a house rental in st Ives instead.
I would imagine there lots of options and it's pretty easy to drive around st Ives.
Sorry it's not too helpful.
Thanks

I'm visiting the local area in the summer, with my family. After 20 minutes of looking on google street view I can't find any designated parking areas.
Could you tell me the best place to park when visiting Porthkidney Sands?

As far as I am aware there isn't any parking for Porth Kidney sands, it's a walk I'm afraid. We were staying at Carbis Bay so walked along the cliffs from our accommodation but there is public parking in Carbis Bay. I think you can park and walk from Hayle as well but not sure. It isn't a difficult walk but anyone with disability wouldn't be able to do it and it would be very tricky with a pushchair. Also it would depend how much stuff you want to take to the beach, a picnic bag, towels and chairs might be manageable but if you want to set up camp with wind breaks etc then I don't think this is the beach for you!
