Great tour of the caverns with Collen. We also enjoyed the astronomy talk on Saturday night.
Visitor center had a coffee shop and a gift shop.

The displays at this visitor center are more cave centric. For more general Great Basin history information and displays, stop in at the visitor center in Baker, which had limited hours in September of 2021 and did not have a ranger present at the time of our visit. The rangers here were very helpful regarding trail questions and the astronomy program, and this is the stepping off point for the cave tours. It is a nice well maintained building with restrooms, a small gift shop, and an attached cafe that has its own gift shop.

Clean, nice people got to go. Didn't try the food just a few tables and it looks like they served beer.

The main VC is closed except for restrooms. However, the VC at the caves has all the things you want to do and see at a National Park. First and foremost, there are restrooms, but there is also a gift shop, diner restaurant and hands on exhibits for children explaining the caves. There is also a short walking trail that provides some good views across the Snake Valley as well and information on lowland (basin) flora. There is even a cabin that was used by the park service early in the park's history as a monument. I will say it is significantly warmer here than the alpine attractions at the top. It is also surprising how high you are here above Baker and the valley even though this is very lowest part of the National Park. Take time to stop and enjoy.

We always begin our national park visits with a stop at the visitor center! We get a map and ask the rangers for advice about things to do in the park. While we were at Great Basin, we did this twice and both times the rangers pointed us to trails that we loved! The exhibits about the park were interesting too. And this is also the meeting spot for cave tours but book your tour in advance on recreation.gov if you’re interested. They book up quickly so a walk-up cave tour is unlikely to be available.

The visitor center is top-notch, giving a great introduction to the Lehman Caves in the park. Exhibits are well done and everything is in great condition.

I’m sure the visitor volume is what dictates the facilities built on a national Park site. However, there may be some argument that better facilities would create a bigger draw.

It’s hard to tell why this is a national park. There just isn’t that much there. Wow there is some historical appreciation for the area, it seems like the national Park service has done very little to make it a point of interest for the public to visit.

The attitude of the rangers working the visitor center, seemed to suggest they drew the short straw, and are having to pay their dues with that assignment.

Glad to have this one checked off our list. While we live only a few hours away, it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t generate a larger draw for us to return.

We took the Grand Palace tour and it was by far the best national park cave tour that we've ever taken. It was supposed to be 1.5 hours but was 1.75 hours because Ranger Ben was AWESOME. You could tell that he truly enjoys his job and he is thrilled to share what he knows about the cave, the park and the bats/animals that live in the cave. It was a learning tour, not just one to look at the pretty formations, and Ben made sure everyone, both adults and children, learned while enjoying the beauty of the cave. The cave is beautiful and very different from other caves we’ve seen. Just a tip, we purchased our tickets in advance online because we were told that the tours often sell out. Highly recommend this tour to anyone, young and old alike.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Visitor Center to get my passport book stamped and enjoyed talking to the staff. The Cave tour was stunning and our ranger guide Leah was awesome!
