Hi, I am going to Geneva/Montreux in January and the Chocolate Train is not working in this times of the year, so I am going do by myself with public train. Could someone tell me if it is more expensive to buy the train tickets on the station or would be better to buy online, please? And should I buy to the last station Montbovon and can I drop in drop off in the middle of the way? Thank you in advance.

We traveled in October using our Swiss Travel Pass which was good for all trains and buses along the route. We used Google Maps to the factory and back and it was very accurate about where/when to catch trains. We could have paid for the Chocolate Train but iI don’t think it would have been worth the extra expense. It was easy enough to get there in our own. I would suggest buying an advance ticket for the factory tour so you will not have any extra wait once you arrive at the factory. That can be done online in advance. It was a fun day, especially if you have kids!

I know that if you buy your train ticket well in advance, it could be a big savings.

In Switzerland you can generally pick up your tickets at the station. I don't think the price would be all that different online, but you can check. If you buy in person they can help you figure out your route.

You will only pay for the route you travel. The Swiss are very precise- your train will pull up at the exact minute it is supposed to arrive, and you will only pay for the exact route you travel :)

The arrival station you want is Broc-Fabrique, not Broc-ville.

Confirm on the sbb.ch website for the timetables as different routes run depending on time of day.

I can't post links in this forum, but the path on the website you want after the .ch is ...

Where are you staying? Some hotels give you a free travel pass that includes some of the transportation in the area. I’d check with them first & perhaps they would have some suggestions.
