Travel - 2 adults. we were in Mbale downtown, took a taxi to Sipi. Asked the driver to drop us at the lodge.(this was discussed before the trip started). There's a bus stop close to the lodge. Good 1- Arrived by bus. Short walk from the bus stop to the lodge. 2- Check-in went smoothly. They do accept card payments. 3- Rooms are spacious, beds comfortable with a spectacular view. WOW!!!! 4- Staff was kind and friendly, had good laughs with them even :-) 5- Guide was called Moses, he did good! Cost 50,000ugx per person. Not good 1- No HOT running water all the time. It's only available in the morning. So you will come from your after morning hike and can't 🚿. Thinking oh I can shower with cold water..this is freezing ice cold water, even your teeth hurt when your brushing. If you can hack it, kudos to you! 2- It's super duper freaking COLD at night!!! The rooms are not heated so be ready to sleep in all the clothes you packed and even then praying for daytime. Please pack accordingly. Clearly we didn't. 3- They DO NOT have any local foods on the menu. We were confused by the food menu because like why would I leave Mexico to come to Uganda to eat a quesadilla?? But yup! No local foods on the menu.…
I traveled through Uganda for almost a month and was honored to stay in Sipi Falls Lodge for 3 nights! It’s a great - centrally located - community lodge with a spectacular front view on the main waterfall and a lovely garden with sun beds. It’s a small well-maintained resort with hard working local staff. They make you feel welcome from the moment you enter the gate. It’s amazing to see how the team manages to keep local authenticity. This lodge probably has the best view on the main fall because the place used to be the lodge of one of the most memorable Governors of Uganda, Andrew Cohen. They recently reclaimed the building, which was built in 1951 and since 2018 it’s the biggest detached (family) room you are able to book at Sipi Falls Lodge. The architectural design, stone work and the colour of the paint are still in tact. This lodge is the ideal place to stay as you explore the Sipi Falls area. After enjoying some great activities like the hike up the falls, rock climbing or the coffee plantation visit, you will have a great time relaxing at the lodge, with good, very large meals. Thank you for your hospitality! I will visit again in the future!…
We called in for a day trip and found a guide to take us up to the falls. The lodge has a beautiful outlook and fantastic views. Our guide Moses was enthusiastic and helpful. Meals back at the lodge were tasty and plentiful. Would be a great place to stay if you had more time.
